That D Corps looks sexy - Avsrchamps01
Kyle Wood would fit in pretty nice right about now. |

So no Duncan Siemens then huh... Poor kid. Why did they even re-sign him? |

I don't like the way Sakic has handled him, I want to see him get a fair chance after all his injuries. Now is the time on a team that's broken and battered. |

Yep. Wasn't that a great trade Wonder if Hanzal will fetch the same kind of return. Gotta love the mindset of the Avs on that one. We need D but let's trade a pretty good D prospect for Boedkker, he's gonna save us! |

Not a troll post, so please no backlash. But you have to sit back and start evaluating your management. Not the be-all-end-all of anything, but you look at the prospects in the Avs organization, and who outside of Jost stands out? Rantanen will be a good player for you guys, so will Jost, but its pretty thing thereafter. Some questionable roster moves for rentals and you have to think that maybe the problem stems back to the GM... |

I know I was agreeing with you I was pretty mad when I saw that Kyle Wood was part of that trade. HUGE mistake! But, there are more prospects than Rantanen and Jost. (Bigras, Compher, Greer, Meloche, Mironov and Martin). And yes management was the problem, Avs fans are well aware of the Patrick Roy influence. Basically, you have to look at this year as New Management since their philosophy and direction has completely changed. I'll give Sakic a fair chance, just wish they'd give Duncan Siemens a chance as well. Especially with the disastrous season. |

Thanks man, for a guy that was your 1st rounder a few years ago I'd love to see him get more games at the NHL level. Our D is such a mess right now, maybe they'll give him a shot after March 1st when some trades are made. |

Hindsight is 20/20 with that Kyle Wood trade. No one would know he would be top 5 in rookie scoring in the AHL. I think the time is now though to start to look at not just this season, but the past 5 season, then look at your prospect cupboard, then look at your AHL team, and start addressing the issues. |

all this kyle wood talk, hey (frank) you Code, the guy can't skate at the NHL level, he has a lot of points in the AHL bc he has a canon of a shot and is on a very decent team.
He still can't Skate, and probably will never be a useful NHLer until he does (which is highly unlikely his skating will improve that much)
Now go read another AHL stat line and try to draw some conclusions to it |

Don't be bitter. I am not trolling. I even said hingsight is 20/20. Its the underlying issue that Sakic gave up on a prospect who didn't really get a fair shake at the pro level. We don't exactly have the most stellar management team leading the way either, but its not unfair to say that as a fanbase (like we have dealt with the past few years) to be a little concerned over the way things have transpired. |

you come in here and say Kyle wood would be a good fit right about now, right out of the gate.
Come on dude that was trolling. Hes a smart player, he has a good shot, but that ability will never translate to the NHL unless he improves his skating...and its bad, awkward and choppy.
Sure he has AHL points but lets not pretend hes a savour bc he has a decent AHL stat line. |

And David Pastrnak and Nik Ehlers would be an insane upgrade over drafting Virtanen right now as well? Are you really that sensitive? With the Johnson injury, and now Zadorov, is it really unfair to say that Wood would be nice to have right now? I am not trolling, and pride myself on the fact that I don't troll. I try and engage with hockey talk from all fanbases. Regardless, I apologize if it came across that way, but it was not my intent.
As far as Wood's skating, the Canucks can attest to this as well. We have had multiple multiple prospects be deemded project players due to poor skating, but they have completely had 180's when gone to pro/AHL. I think players have more to gain in their development in the pro's than they do in junior, would you agree? |

I actually like the Avs D.
Zads - Wiercoch - Barberio - Bigras on the left side.
Barrie - Johnson on the right side.
Maybe they can snatch up another right side guy from CAR and shoot Beauchemin to the moon. |

I loved the Boedker trade last Spring. The Avs were making a playoff push and Tanguay was struggling bigtime and was on the outs, Wood was a prospect and Bleakley was a bust. That trade was one that Sakic did really well on, too bad Boedker didn't want to re-sign here. But Joe did great, a great rental that could maybe re-sign on the offseason for a guy who was in the twilight of his career, a bust and D prospect. |
